Favorite Inkers

Just wanted to throw this out there. Inkers for some reason get a bad rap as just tracers to novice comic book fans. We know better. ;-)

I love looking at commissions before and after inks to see what the inker brought to the table.

Most of my commissions are in pencils but i've been tempted to have them inked on.

The one I got really brave on was my 3rd JrJr commission with Dexter Vines inking it.

Anyways who's your favorite inker?

Mike

Terry Austin, P. Craig Russell, Armando Gil, and Rudy Nebres all have substantial skills and greatly enhance whatever pencils they are inking. In fact, Nebres is so good that he can liven up even the worst pencils - some may say that he puts too much of his own style into the job, but I've never seen it as a problem.

I'm a huge fan of inkers and generally can't stand when a comic is published in pencils only. Some of my favorites:

Joe Sinnott
Tom Palmer
Armando Gil (I'm thrilled that he got a mention earlier, I though he'd be overlooked)

My tops are

Tim Townsend, Terry Austin, Scott Williams, Art Thibert, Dexter Vines and Mark Morales.

Oh hand does anybody know how Much Scott Williams charges at Cons to ink a sketch/commission.

I have a piece tht I would love for him to add his inks to.

Thanks

Mike

From the OA I own my favorite inkers are...

-Marc Campos (the work he did over Ivan Reis is amazing)
-Rick Magyar
-Oliver Nome
-Jonathan Glapion
-Steve Moncuse
-John Stanisci

Nome, Moncuse, and Jay Leisten (another favorite) are all very easy to deal with. Jonathan Glapion's rep Kirk Dilbeck is very professional and friendly as well.

Klaus Janson has always been a fav of mine. Really liked how he made JRJR's pencils look.

1. Joe Weems
2. Scott Williams
3. Christian Alamy
4. J. Glapion
