Avatar and Star Wars alternating Decembers starting in 2021

Avatar 2 got delayed again. James Cameron sure has performance anxiety.

Warner originally scheduled Aquaman 2 for December 2022, the only December without an Avatar sequel in the near future. They'll probably move to summer to avoid being crushed by a Disney tentpole.

Fox and now Disney is putting a lot behind Avatar, but I'm not sure other studios need to be that scared. If Aquaman 2 and Avatar 2 came out the same December I could see it be a competitive battle.

Augen, like you, I've wondered just who in the world even cares about Avatar anymore. I know someone who bought a 1/6-scale Sam Worthington figure from that movie, and he has had a tough time trying to unload it on eBay for the past couple of years.

The first one was such a turd of a movie. I couldn't believe Cameron actually called the ore Unobtanium. Was he really that lazy?

I enjoyed Avatar. More contemporary Dances with Wolves.

Never understood the popularity. Thought it was boring.

Cameron is an ass clown. How the hell does it take you over a decade to make a freaking sequel. They better do a hell of a job on promotion when the time comes because who gives a sh!t right now.

These delays are the promotion. The masses will think "Finally! The sequel that's been over a decade in the making for the most successful film of all time is here!". They bought into the 3D hype. Why not this tactic?

Did he ever plan on doing sequels or was that something he decided years after Avatar was released?

The only problem with delays is the hype building up, unless the sequel is the most amazing sequel of all time people will be disappointed.... plus the more time you give fans to think about the sequels they start coming up with their own ideas of how the sequels should be which also creates disappointed as the final movie won't match what's in their head..
