Thinking of collecting Bishoujo. Some ?s first.

Hey guy, I'm thinking of getting into another line of collectibles and I do like the look of these figures.

But being that they're made of PVC concerns me. Especially since it seems most of these are posed with standing on only one leg.

Will they wilt over time? How will the heat effect the PVC?

Some PVC figures will lean over time. Depending on manufacturer, size, pose. Some don't.

Some PVC figures will become oily over time, that's because the plasticizers are migrating from the plastic to the surface. Some don't.

So, it depends.

These things are completely hollow. You don't have to worry about leaning.

My concern is that these aren't built for the long term...

If the quality dictated that these would last then I'd be less concerned about collecting.

I think the oldest Bishoujo statues are around 5 years old and other then the gold on Blue outfit Batgirl turning sticky (which was only in the first batch) I haven't really heard of that many problems....

IMO, Any leaning issues is probably due more to people putting them in direct sunlight or near a floor heater or something that causes them to heat up which softens the plastic and thus the lean.

I have the 1/8 scale Black Widow Bishoujo and she still looks as great as the day I bought her... I keep her out of direct sunlight and in a AC dry room, and she still looks brand new, no paint fade or leaning issues...

Well we rarely ever run our AC cause it's very expensive.

Kotobukiya seems to be a well known Anime PVC maker. Does that mean their stuff is better, quality wise, than others?

It's hard for me to believe they'd make things that would fall apart over time.

Unless you keep it like 90 degrees plus in your house I doubt you have anything to worry about, I really can't see these statues failing over time even 20+ years from now, just don't put them near a heat sort or in direct sunlight and you should be good..

Mine are all still sealed and I keep them inside another box each, in a closet. The house temp is usually around 73 degrees F. You guys think that is ok?
