Why do you think this has something to do with GG? They reported about this a couple days ago on Rebelscum.com, they don't have any info on it either.

I am not saying it has to do with GG, but instead that this could be the material where GG is actually inspiring to create the maquettes or viceversa, it is just a guess.
The images have been changing more than once daily since RS reported it.

Looks cool but I don't see the resemblance to the OT Animated Maquettes. Those seem to be directly inspired by the Genndy Tartakovsky Clone Wars character designs.

They have changed the pics twice since yesterday. There were other pics with R2 and C-3PO which look more and more like the maquettes.

Wow it really does. Thats pretty cool. Makes me wonder if the animation style of this new series was influenced by Clone Wars. Obviously CW wasn't computer animated but you're right about the similarity in character design. Interesting.
