Galactic heroes and big, epic stories

Growing up reading comics, I never cared for galactic heroes or big, epic stories. I loved super heroes that were CRIMEFIGHTERS. Spider-man, Captain America, Cloak & Dagger, Moon Knight, Heroes for Hire, and Daredevil were my favorites. ( This is why I love the New Avengers. The group is made up of mostly the crimefighting type of superhero.) Anyway, I have been reading the current issues of Nova, The Inhumans, and The Fantastic Four, and loving it! So my question to the forum is: What trade paperbacks or comic issues would you recommend for great galactic or big, epic stories?

I love the Infinity Gaunlet and read at least one a year - and PH is one of the new classics!

I just read the War of Kings hardcover that came out last week and it's excellent!

I also recommend the Guardians of the Galaxy books and agree with the recommendations for Planet Hulk and Annihillation.

The DC books have an outstanding cosmic epic going in the Green Lantern books.

Invincible has a good mix of cosmic in a lot of it's stories, plus it's a great read!
