Customizing statues - basic questions

I have a few damaged Bowen statues lying around that I wanted to repair, and/or alter/customize. I have sculpted a few pieces with super sculpey, but never worked on anything pre-existing.

I am confident I can remove the paint and sand away unnecessary details; however, when adding additional details I am unsure what product to use, how to affix them, and how to cure the product. Any ideas? Is there a thread or tutorial that may take me through the process?

Your best bet is to use a 2-part putty like Aves, Miliput or Magic Sculp

You can use them for about 2 hours and they cure overnight
No need to heat them up or anything

Aves FTW! this stuff has changed my life - everything that is not white polystone on wolverine here is aves. you can do anything with this stuff

as far as any other pointers go check out Vince-Vell's youtube channel, he has all kinds of tutorials on there from using aves and other types of sculpting materials, to statue repairs, painting etc. its a tremendous source of information

Thanks guys! Vince's youtube channel will be a great resource. Especially, if I ever decide that I want to begin painting my own customs.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

Out of curiosity, would it be easy to customize resin statues using Aves?
