this game won't survive once star wars mmo and diablo III come out.

That might help their current situation, apparently, the servers are getting filled & you now have to wait on line to get into the game. The log in que can last up to 15 min. The countdown sometimes starts in the 1000's.

Ah so they are going the route of free online and then pay for the perks and bonus options.

I may try it again if its free.

nah they are finding out that they wil make more money by giving it free to people and let them buy the store perks then to make people pay monthly fee.

Unless you are a powerhouse MMO like WOW or the others, you just wont take away their player base with monthly fees.

They get two types of players with free play and players hitting the brick wall, and then have no choice but to buy the perks. Someone like me, who will drop it then and no buy those perks, and the other type who will venture out for a game card and buy those perks.

Yep, Star Trek Online had been testing the waters with pay for perks and have also decided to go the free to play route. All those little perks add up and these games can make a ton of money.

It sounds like they have 3 levels of "membership" going forward. Free, premium and legendary based on how much/if you invested in the game.

i haven't touched my account in forever. last i remember was joining a raid and beating brainiac in his hive ship...all 3 ridiculous phases of him
