What an unfortunate transaction this turned out to be Risingstar. I sincerely hope you will be able to settle this matter with Apeng_ii.
Too bad this matter already seems to have been escalated; I hope however that Apeng will do the right thing and pay for the return shipping charges since as far as I can see the discriptions which he used on Ebay for this statue clearly were incorrect and wrong.
I do think that it is courageous of Apeng to post in this thread and for that I think he does deserve some credit. He has chosen to reply to the accusations against him and it takes guts to do that when you know a lot of people have already judged and condemned you. He could have also kept silent and not reply at all but he did not do that.
Apeng, I do not want to tell you how to run your business but if you really sell 10k a month on Ebay then would not it be possible as a gesture of goodwill to your client to pay the return shipping charges?
As a seller you sometimes have to invest in the relationship with your clients since a satisfied client base is of adamant importance to the continuity of your business.
You may not have the been the one who touched up the statue and you may not have known at all that the statue was touched up in the first place.
Giving you the benefit of the doubt that would mean that you did not intentionally tried to scam Risingstar and that would be good since it would indicate that you are basically an honest and responsible seller.
But now that you know that the statue was touched up and was not in the same shape as Risingstar had reason to believe based on your descriptions on Ebay, should not you do your best to settle this matter asap?
Would not you have appreciated it if Risingstar would have done the same thing if the roles would have been reversed?
I hope you can settle this matter quickly!
Rainer

Wow.
I am appalled.
I thought I belonged to a forum that generally had more dignity and respect than this.
1. The nationality should never have brought up. Period. So let it go from here on in. It does NOT look good on any of you discussing this.
2. I feel bad for all of you that have had issues with this seller. Really I do. And please keep in mind that I have lost $1200 on an ebay transaction 2 years ago when you read what I am about to write next:
When an item is not as described, you get your money back. It is that simple. You return the item, then you get refunded. If you wish, you file an appeal (which is what I do, not because I do not trust the seller, but simply to have record keeping for ebay and PayPal), return the item and you get your money back. It's that simple. Starting a feud results in negative energy, and the person who usually gets it the most is the buyer. I know, it is sickening inside to KNOW for a FACT you have been taken advantage of, never mind when the seller at least responds to you. I can understand if you did not have a recourse to go after the person in this way. But when you have such an easy recourse through PayPal and ebay, just file through the process. So just do it.
3. I have bought two items off Apengii before. SS Exc Thor, and a Batman Maquette. All came better than described. No retouches. Again, I do not say this as a slap in the face to those who have had a negative experience. I say this as my personal experience with this seller.
4.Modulator, I propose shutting down the thread. It stays visible for all to see, but what more is to say at this point, really. The buyer has said there piece, the seller has responded, people can decide for themselves now.
Seriously people. Get a grip.

Well said Force. Great common sense, with practical business advice.

Threads reopened since many folks seem to have dealt with this guy (good and bad). Lets just keep it free of racial/ethnic/religious issues, ok?

Thanks to everyone for their supportive posts and for sharing their negative experiences with this seller, Rufino Mabbotrang (eBay ID: apeng_ii). Had some of us known in advance, I think many of us would have steered way clear.
Update: Since this thread was posted on this and other forums, the seller has not moved an inch to try and rectify this situation. While he has popped on some forums to admit this was all his fault, he has illustrated zero accountability and responsibility as he hasn't done a thing since or offered any measure of compensation. Paypal and eBay have been informed.
Warning remains the same: steer very clear of this guy.

Sorry to hear the guy won't work to rectify the situation - although after hearing him on here - I'm not surprised...

this guy is exactly why ebay needs to change their policies. as a buyer, he can get away with murder and does. as a seller, people need to leave negatives outlining his shady practices.

I too had a horrible episode on ebay once paying for a Doom PF ex from tendou_souji aka henshinhobby aka Ken Kei and having the loser up on me and hid under his grandma's bed without ever attempting to rectify things.
Like this seller too, when the heat was turned on him, he appeared briefly trying to clear his rotten name but thankfully, the brothers on the Forum here stood up and pointed out his shady schemes. Then he disappeared without a trace.
I bet the coward is still here reading what we have to say about crooks like them.
I am sorry this happened to you and support what you're trying to do. You're only doing things the right way and he's not man enough to step up. They're all cowards preying on trust behind the anonymity of a username and a failed system of identification.
Ebay must review their user identification policy and have legit IDs and addresses. A foolproof ID system must be enforced if transactions are supposed to be safe. This forces the crooks to think twice about accountability and protect the legit buyers and sellers.
If apeng is as honest about this he would've resolved this with you already. Running and hiding is only highlighting how dishonest and cowardly he really is.
Hope you chase the rat down.
Thanks for the heads-up on the seller. You've done a community service to us all.
Go get him!
