I guess they really enjoyed that story? From a creative standpoint I guess it inspired them.
For me as a comic book fan, the only reason why I?m here, and I mentioned this in one of the Dark Knights threads, there are a number of stories that are more beloved by fans that could serve well for statue lines
- Secret Wars
- Civil War
- Messiah Complex
- Dark Phoenix Saga
- Infinity Gauntlet
Etc, but I guess they gotta go with what inspires them artistically and what Marvel approves.

A classic 60s/70s Spider-Man with web pits and the old chest symbol would be cool. Sideshow did it as a faux bronze (without web pits) but nobody else has touched that version.
