In The Valley of the Kings by Terrence Holt. So far, a good short story collection. Some sci-fi, some dark humor - very much like the works of JG Ballard.

Update: gave up on it. The first several stories were okay, but I found myself having to reread each one in order to figure out what was going on. Not worth the effort.

The Last Dive: A Father and Son's Fatal Descent into the Ocean's Depths

finished it today. great book but i wouldnt bother if you are not a diver. it gets technical in diver terms that are not explained until after you have read a couple pages of the stuff. if you are a diver it is a great history of diving and the fun and tragedies involved.

The Roald Dahl Omnibus - a selection of short works by the author of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory & James and The Giant Peach. His style is darkly humorous, similar to Ray Bradbury, and very direct. It's nice to have straightforward stories that don't have to be read and re-read in order to understand what the author is trying to say.

What part of "What's everyone reading" are you having problems with? Maybe you need to start a "What's everyone LISTENING to" thread.

Just finished Schultz by David Michaelis, the story of Charles M. Schultz's life. What a depressing and pitifully insecure life he had. No wonder the Peanuts characters were so angst ridden. One of the single most beloved creators of our or any time and he still felt alone for most of his life. Kind of a painful read.

I've just started Men of Tomorrow, about the creation of the comic book industry. The business as well as the creative elements. Only about 1/3 of the way in but it's a fascinating and fun read.
