Superman Man of Steel by Gary Frank

Ooof. I was most looking forward to the Gary Frank and Alex Ross releases in this line, but I really hate what DCC has done here. I dislike the weird pose and the way the cape is used as the support.

I feel like this could've worked if it had been floating on a rod like the Miller and Quitely statues. The pose portrays Supes soaring triumphantly through the sky--- yet the that cape support completely grounds the piece. Can't get over that disconnect. Oh well.

Yikes. That's bad. Looks like a ballet leap or something.

It's God-awful. Makes me sad to think about the squandered potential.

Is this based on some specific image from a comic? Below is the closest I could find. Some things just don't translate well into 3D models, perhaps the figure looks better from a different angle.

Pass for me. This statue looks awkward at eye level and I imagine it won't help being side-by-side with other MoS releases. Maybe if you're looking down at it??

Honestly, I'm tired of all the "flying" poses. Sure it's Superman and he flies, but there are plenty of iconic shots with him grounded.
