Yep, that is due to the new classification code for the statues. 6.5% is customs fee. SS sent this out to Canadian buyers explaining why the code has changed; CBSA requested it.
I was lucky with my Cap Marvel statue though, no custom fees, just taxes

The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.

I just got my Hulk Vs Wolverine. I was expecting to pay taxes and duties at the door, they just handed me the package. The shipper had no packing slip on it. Is this usual??

Do you have a FedEx account? If so, they will bill you and send you an email within the next 4 weeks.
If not - they will snail-mail you a bill.

Obviously it sucks that we are getting raped by the weak dollar, taxes and fees, but recently I've been trying to put a positive spin on it. A few years ago, I was pre-ordering everything I wanted without much thought. I'd get caught up in the hype of a new shiny statue and order it the day it went up. A year would go by and I'd get the statue, throw it on my shelf with the rest and after a couple days it would just blend in with the rest. Since the price of a PF has now nearly doubled I've learned to be much more patient and I'm actually spending(wasting) much less money and only getting pieces that I know I'll love and appreciate.
In years past, I would have 8 or 10 PF's on order at somewhere around $450-600. Now I have only 2 pieces on order. Red Sonja, which is on the way and the P1 Spider-Man 2099. Both of which I took my time to think about and decided they would be worth buying.
Anyways, that's just my 2 cents. Yeah it sucks that we can't buy up everything, but maybe that isn't a bad thing.

Yeah - it was certainly factored in when I looked at the new Sideshow Predator 1 1:4 maquette.
Time was that I would have got it EVEN with its multiple HUGE flaws . . . . . but no longer given the current exchange rate + shipping increase + tax increase.
