YOU are absolutely correct. I should consider that point in the future.

You could, I guess, but wouldn't our Social Security system kind of debunk that all by itself?

A plutocracy is when the people in charge or hold sway over the government, the ruling class, are the wealthy. Social Security doesn't do anything to sway away from that.

Isn't that how it's been for a long time though? And in most countries honestly? I know many people want some sort of Socialism but in my mind giving more power and control to the government isn't the best idea considering how inefficient they already are. Which countries have succeeded from Socialism vs failed? I admit I don't know a great amount about it, but just looking at a basic level Capitalism looks to drive more innovations and growth just on principal imo. I think the big problem that most people agree with is that Capitalism isn't working as it should because the Corporations have their hands in Politics and I don't see that changing unless the Government wants it to.

Yeah I know what a plutocracy is, my point is that one of those governments won’t have a socialistic system like Social Security or Welfare like we have. Ancient Rome was the last functioning plutocracy I can think of and while we are more of a republic in sort of the same way they were at times, we also have multiple systems in place to help out the lower class. Something plutocracies aren’t meant for.

Social Security isn't means-tested, so as long as you pay into it, you accumulate credits to take out money when you reach a certain age. This is true even if you are a bazillionaire.

I'm 32 and self-employed, I pay a lot into Social Security but I'm not betting on getting anything back lol. There should be an option to opt out and not receive anything either.

As long as you get your 40 quarters of credit you will be eligible for Social Security. It will be there when you are eligible as it's in law. They will get the money from somewhere even if they have to borrow it. Now if you die before you are eligible then no you won't get it. Besides, it's an insurance program not a retirement savings account.
