+1: Kevin Conrad - Set up a commission at the Albany Comic Con and he ran with it and then some. Great communication, great work, timely completion.

+1 Karl Altstaetter - Good communication, took a while to get done, but he was open to concept, provided prelims and handled a revision note. Offered to pay for shipping because of the long wait. Pretty good experience overall, I'll take a longer wait over being burned.

Speaking of burns:

Steve Scott: Still no art. Rep assures me he'll ship it this Thursday. Not holding my breath.

Sean Patty: Avoid commissioning this guy. Contacted him in summer and set up a commission, paid upfront (won't be doing that anymore.) and was told the piece would take a few months. I waited a few months and got in contact again. He said it would still take longer. I waited another month, got in contact. Not to go into detail as per his request but because of some medical and legal issues he never started my commission, and now can't afford to refund me. So I'm basically screwed. I understand ---- happens, but I wonder if he was at any point going to tell me I wouldn't be (for any foreseeable future) getting any art or my money back?? Don't make the same mistake, avoid.

-1 Ken Lashley - Long wait times, and do not trust him to have it completed when he says it will be done. Seemed offended when I asked for a refund. It took a couple of months for refund.

-100 Shelby Robertson - never delivered and just a bad tempered fellow as he canceled the commission when he got called out. So sad as his artwork is really nice

for what its worth, here are my avoid lists - either due to negative direct experience with them or due to hearing / reading too many negative stories.

the -1000 club:

Jason Craig
Jamie Biggs
Rob Liefeld

Ethan Van Sciver
Eddie Newell
Anthony Castrillo
Evan Shaner

the proceed with caution club - mixed results some positive others not:

I've shared my avoid list with some of my close collector friends, but for the sake of the community at large, here's my list. No true absolutely horrific experiences, but just based on my experiences and/or stories I've heard from others.

Proceed with Caution:

Paolo Pantalena - delivered after 7 months, but not a great experience.

H-eri - delivered after 9 months, wrong product, fortunately I got a full refund.

Rob Liefeld - not a fan of his art, plus heard too many bad experiences.

EVS - while I have had 2 good dealings with him at conventions, I've heard enough from others to know not to commission him.

Ale Garza - heard he's gotten better, but I'd still be nervous commissioning him.

regarding Ale, I got something from him done at a con this year and he was pretty great, but can't speak for home commissions from him.

Which artist are you referring to? Or do you just mean in general?
