still not the whole story
after baltimore didnt get him the colts and the raiders signed a trade agreement. then the commissioner said the raiders cant have him and gave him to the broncos for the same trade. course the broncos were not even involved in the trade until this point and it was a surprise to them as well. pissing off the commissioner cost the raiders a lot of superbowls. could you imagine elway throwing to tim brown.

Cool! You're not far from me, actually--I'm on the NW side of Denver.

I didn't spend much time in Joliet, but I've been there. I was mainly down south-central--college towns, mostly. (Bloomington-Normal, Champaign-Urbana, etc.) Also lived in Chicago for a short time, but that was more like an extended visit than a residence. Great town, though, Chicago. One of my favorites.

Huh--I didn't know the part about the Raiders. Interesting. Why'd the commissioner rule that way? (I've only read the Elway story in more contemporary sources...when all this was going down, I was still a 49ers fan, and also following the Bears.)

he ruled that cause it was when davis was pissing him off in court

the whole la and oakland thing.

it was just to piss off al davis

course the commissioner wouldnt say that. when denver said they were surprised and baltimore said they were surprised, cause the raiders had already signed the paper work for elway, everyone knew what had happened.

to piss off davis. they were the rivals at the time. not chargers or chiefs or seahawks. denver wanted him just as much as everyone else they just thought it was over and a done deal with oakland when they found out they got him.
