You did the right thing not taking them back. The kid's drawer would have come up short, he could have lost his job.
The girl who rang me up today asked me if she was supposed to give me the $5 coupons back, I could have said yes but then she'd be short $25 in her register.

Yup, I would have felt guilty afterwards.
They really don't give these people training on this considering how often they do these trade-ins.

True, the girl who gave me the coupons didn't even check the boxes first to make sure anything was in them. One BB doesn't even give me a receipt to go with the coupons. They look like photo copies, I could easily go home and make more copies of them.
Next I'll try to trade in some asian import DVD's I don't watch anymore.
