Have never seen the anime, nor read the manga, but for some reason, I'm dying to see this. I guess it's the trailers.

Shoplifters (2018) - A family of small-time crooks take in a child they find outside in the cold.
This is an extremely heartfelt and ultimately sad story about a makeshift family of outsiders. 9/10

Mary Queen of Scots (2018) - Mary Stuart's attempt to overthrow her cousin Elizabeth I, Queen of England, finds her condemned to years of imprisonment before facing execution.
I watched this primarily for Saoirse Ronan and because I generally like period pieces. There was clearly a contemporary twist to this story with the multiracial casting and feminist slant of pitting all the men against the two queens--a fictional meeting between whom was also added to give the film a needed high point. These liberties taken were a little distracting at first, but it's still a respectable, albeit slightly fantastical retelling. 6/10

Liam Neeson has his own genre of "Old Man takes revenge" . I gave up on seeing them in the theatre after the 3rd Taken Movie.

Pappillon (2017 Re-make) 5/10
With Jax Teller as Steve McQeen it wasn’t terrible but IMO can’t hold up to the original which itself was no where near as good as the book. The book was too long to make into a single movie effectively though so they had to composite some characters and eliminate some others.

Alita Battle Angle 7/10
Was hoping for more. While Alita was acute I found most of the other characters obtuse.
