Surface tension in ink wash

I have a really hard time doing flesh! I tried to mix it myself, as everyone advised but they came out, always, either gray or very pink. So now I have obtained many pre-made flesh tones by Reaper. I have a bit more success with these, and the help of the fantastic Hot Lead tutorial, also reccommended here.

So I would like to try an ink wash to help do shading over Wolverine's skin. Is there a product made to add to the ink to keep those awful rings from forming when it dries? I think I read here that dish detergent can be used, but is there a product specially made for this?

Well, I see that it is actually Windex, not dish detergent!

Maybe that's the only product out there for this?? Can anyone tell me the ratio then, Windex to ink?

Is there a way to lighten the intensity of the ink, or is that done simply with a lot of water? I worry about darkening the skin color too much. And messing the whole thing up! Like, having to remove everything and start over!
