I haven't had the last couple releases, so was more just checking if I made a mistake ordering the latest one. Based on what I've read, it's the best it's looked. The only negative being the proper 4:3 ratio isn't presented in 4K.

The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.

I bought the Blu-ray steel box that came out just a couple years ago. It looks great but no they don?t keep the 4:3 so they are cutting some stuff out. I would be curious to know what the differences are between the one I have and the one you just bought

There is only one 4K version, and that is it ^^

I'm not sure, maybe I just haven't seen the original 4:3 in soooo long, that it's not something I notice/am bothered by.

I should probably check if the older discs even play.... my Legend, Ultimate Edition bluray won't play on my PS5. "Forced" me to order the new box set

It comes with the 4:3 version as well. You haven't watched that disc?

A new 4K transfer was utilized not just for the 4K widescreen version, but also the 1080 4:3 version. So even though the 4:3 version isn't 4K, it supposedly still benefits from the new scan.

Like I said, I bet the 40th will include the 4:3 in 4K. But yeah, I hate watching that aspect ratio too. Sucks that that is the original image.

Maybe AI will eventually be able to 'draw it out' to widescreen, so it's not being chopped off.

It doesn't bug me since 4:3 shows/movies shows all the original cel art.

Neat vid

Well, right, but widescreen is a human's preferred aspect ratio. It's unfortunate that the 4:3 ratio was adopted for the time period it was (for both technical and marketing reasons).

Today, art can be drawn at whatever ratio they prefer.
