Back when I was jumping a lot I was repacking my chute in a grassy area outside my apartment when gust of wind came up and relocated me to the vacant lot across the street. There was no way in Hell I was just going to let my gear blow across the county without trying to save it. Kelly was standing on the balcony of our apartment and about passed out as she saw me lived 30 feet in the air while holding onto my gear with one hand.
The next time I had to repack my chute, I pushed all the furniture to one side of the apartment and did it inside!

One of my last jumps was in November or December and the guy spotting wasn't very good at it and I landed in a corn field about 3 miles away from the dz. We had a warm front come thru and it melted all the snow and ice so the field was a mud pit and when I landed I twisted my ankle, fell in the mud and was dragged about 30 yards by the wind. I had about an inch of mud plastered all over me........I gave that guy a bunch of sh!t every time I saw him. Unfortunately he died a couple months later in a skydiving accident.

Made a tandem jump years ago in New Zealand. Fantastic experience . . . I found cramming into the back of a very small plane alot scarier than finally jumping out of it !

School here is $200-300 bucks or so, as a rough guesstimate.
Tandem jumping usually is less expensive, I believe, than solo-jumping. Could be wrong, though.

If possible I would recommend a dz with a Super Otter or King Air planes. They get you to altitude much quicker and IMO are a lot more fun to jump out of than a Cessna 182!
