There is some annoyance to someone claiming a commission is rare when you, the artist, make a living from commissions, and would gladly do a similar commission with a fairly quick turnaround.
So, regardless of the artist, this guys listing info makes him a douchebag.

But in reality, it's one dopey ebay auction, from one dopey seller. Anyone who actually collects comic art knows it's not rare. They know Byrne does commissions all the time. So, I'd imagine that any damage to Byrne would be nil.
Hell, anyone who knows Byrne art already knows what the piece is.

Hell, the only person who would ever want it sold it already....

What the seller did was hurt Byrne's reputation in order to hype up his own auction.

Byrne does not take years to complete a commission. In fact, he is one of the most reliable and efficient in that regard.
