I remember seeing that Image piece somewhere where it was being created somewhere. Didn't Erik Larsen or Liefield lay it out. I vaguely remember one of them did.

Agreed. I was offered to have my layout done by another artist but it didn't have a very loose look to some of the examples I was shown. It's also part of the reason I went to large with this piece as it seems to give the artists a lot of room to play with. It's easy enough for an artist to erase some of what's there to work on the characters they way they want.

The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.

I can't say for sure. Someone had mentioned that to me the day after I picked it up, but no one seemed positive as to who had done the layout.

Hey Mike. Are you referring to Richard Oh's Avengers jam? That's a real beauty. I check regularly on CAF to see if it's done.

In terms of layouts, I agree that layouts definitely help in terms of both keeping everything in the right proportion and keeping your vision in tact. If you have a picture in mind and one part of a layout isn't what you wanted, it's very easy to correct the layout rather than correcting a character that's drawn on that looks off. A loose layout is also preferable. That way an artist knows where to draw but can put his own details in the character like others have said.

the jam. kinda like having a whole team sign a baseball? i think im more of a sweetspot 1 signature kinda guy. not sure what id do for an invincible jam. most of kirkmans characters are all in each others books at some point i guess. unfortuantely, i dont think most artists would be familiar with most of those characters. ask somebody to draw an allen the alien in between eve and oliver, i can just imagine the looks id get. not sure i have the patience for this either. am i nuts?
