the lifting the shelves was discussed some time back, you know the rubber thingies that are between the glass and the metal rod? you get thincker ones if i remember correctly.

You could use thick rubber washers from a hardware store and just cut a slit in them to get them on.

well i just used some pencil grips from some pencils and they worked fine
