"Kull of Atlantis " Painting tutorial by Alex Castro

Dear friends,

This is to announce that I will be painting "Robert E. Howard's "Kull of Atlantis " statue from CS Moore Studio's sculptured by Clayburn Moore. This is our first collaborative effort.

Let me first say that this white resin casting is so well done that I can understand if some collectors opted not to paint this piece and display it "as is."

That being said, I will be applying by own unique style of painting to bring this masterpiece to life. I will be posting some works in progress in numerous forums and the complete work in progress will be published in a how-to article in one of the international magazines that will be announced on a later date.

In the meantime, lets breathe some life into Kull!!

Thank you for coming along with me on this creative venture.

Alex

Note the great character and expression. The hair throws it over the top.
The anatomy is magnificent. Clay has captured, in my opinion, the anatomy of motion in this piece well!

Close-up of complete parts that come with the figure. Note that the base has been silvered. I'll get into all of this in my next posting.

Looking forward to your take on this Alex. Is this for your own collection, for Clay, or is their a private collector (possibly a forum member?) who is commissioning this?

I am also interested in knowing if this is another counter sample from Clay.

Thanks everyone ,

I am painting this piece for an upcoming article for an international magazine that I'm currently in negotiation with. That being said, this is a special factory casting Clay ordered for the article. This is not a kit and will not be sold as a kit. The original painted version can be ordered through a local comic retailer or through CS Moore Studio's website. It's strictly limited to 500 pieces and has strong advance orders from what I understand.

I will only be addressing comments and/or questions relating to the painting of the figure on this painting tutorial .

Please note that any questions regarding production, availability, pricing and ordering should be directed to CS Moore Studio's website. www.csmoorestudio.com

For those of you who asked about purchasing the piece, this one is not for sale.

Stay tuned ,

Alex
