And now for something a little different and very unique. I have a wide range of interests which also include fossils

I got this amazing piece in a few days ago and thought I'd share. It's a roughly 4 million year old Megalodon shark tooth, beautifully preserved. Its 5.3 inches long measured diagonally from its longest side. In case some of you are not familiar with Megalodon it was the biggest predator to ever swim in earths oceans. It went extinct about 2 million years ago and reached lengths over 60 feet long. The biggest meg teeth found measure in just over 7" and are extremely rare. When you look at how big a 5.3" tooth is in my hand it pretty easy to imagine how big this animal was. I'm looking for a couple 7" inchers for my collection but they are hard to come by in good condition at that size and not to mention extremely expensive.

I have a custom acrylic case being made for this tooth at the moment. The base in the pic is what the seller threw in with the sale, which I don't like at all, but will do for now until the new one gets here.

It's amazing, after millions of years this tooth is still razor sharp to the touch, and still has amazing serrations along its edges. It's very rare in a tooth of this size.

Below chart shows the size comparison of an average human male next to today's modern great white at 20 feet long. Above that is Megalodon at 60 feet long.

Thanks for kind words, appreciate it. Would be cool if Megs was still alive today. Wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility. There have been many animals in the sea found to be alive still after thought to be extinct for millions of years. Some found to be alive and well just a few years ago. For example:

The giant squid
Frilled shark
Coelacanth
Ribbon fish

....just to name a few. If we were to find freshly lost meg tooth on the sea floor it would confirm one is still alive. Would be a really exciting day if that happend.

This footage gets you thinking if it is still alive. This is reportedly not fake, whatever was caught in this video is tough to say. All we know is, it's big!

Sweet additions Chris. I have to admit when I saw PCS solicit Shao Kahn I though meh but seeing in hand pics it looks fantastic.

Love the varied collections too. Nice to see things other than statues. The tooth is very interesting and love your 1:12 (or is it 1:10) lambo.
