How to remove polystyrene?

Does anyone know the best way to remove bits of polystyrene from a statue? Some of my statue's have got tiny bits of polystyrene jammed into the finer details and no matter what I do I cannot get them out.

The little white bits really stand out especially on a dark colour statue.

Are you referring to styrofoam packing material? Do you have any photos?

Some ideas to try

Scotch tape
Toothpicks
Toothbrush
Compressed air

This ^^

For compressed air, try to use a small compressor (if you have it) instead of a can. The chemicals inside the can can affect the statue's paint. Been there done that.

Blew it off with lung power.
Blew it off with compressed air.
Brush it off with a small brush.
Final pieces needed uses of a small pick/scrapper, like the picks dentists uses. Ended up by to and almost acting like long thin tweezers.
