The worst for me was in the two-three years after getting my first piece.
I was so eager to have a "collection", that I was pre-ordering anything that looked remotely interesting to me, or if it was from a favorite property.
I have at least five big boxes now, eating up space, containing things I have no great need to keep looking at anymore. Such a waste.
As for this piece- I was a fan briefly in the early '80's and was able to catch the last few issues of the Elektra storyline off the racks. Still love most of that run.
OTOH, Miller's second turn at the character, with Mazzucchelli, didn't light my fire. Kind of hated how it ended, actually. I'm still looking forward to finally reading the Waid & Sammee run, but it's stuck behind a huge backlog of other things.
This piece is so nice though, I may just have to bump those up to the top of the pile now.
After Hawkman and the 1/3 Cap this winter, I wanted to cool it for a while. Something about this keeps me coming back to it. Never been even remotely tempted by anything with this character before...'till now.
Excellent figure work and one of the best looking hero portraits yet. It's a conceptually simple (and yeah, derivative) piece- but at the same time, so extraordinarily well executed.
