My statue arrived a couple days ago. Crazy story before I get to my thoughts.
So... I guess my local Weta warehouse is in Seattle, which is about 3.5hrs north of me. I received my tracking notification on Friday with an estimated delivery of Monday. I thought, “great” as I was headed to the coast for the weekend and wouldn’t be back until late Sunday. A pretty large storm rolled in over the weekend dropping almost 6” of rain in a 24hr period. I got an email on Saturday that my package had been “delivered and left on the porch.”
Needless to say I went into a mad panic as I was almost 3hrs away and it was a monsoon outside. Thankfully I was able to get ahold of my neighbor and they grabbed it for me. So it only sat outside for an hour and a half. Outter box got a bit wet but everything else was good. Sigh of relief. Weather aside I can’t believe Weta doesn’t require a signature for these high dollar items and that UPS would even leave this outside (no bag over it either) given the conditions. On the one hand it’s cool to get your statue quickly but I’ve never had something ship and arrive within the same 24hr period. This can definitely cause problems if you’re trying to arrange intercepting a delivery.
As far as the statue is concerned, this piece is a thing of beauty. It’s packed extremely well. Mine arrived damage free. I was surprised that 4 pieces of the horse armor are attached via very strong magnets and come separately. The MoS’s upper body is also a separate piece as is the tail. I own a lot of Weta pieces and this is right up there with the best I’ve ever seen. In fact it may be the best. I just need to let it soak in a bit before anointing it as such. Couldn’t be happier. Worth every penny.
