This is pretty big news. It almost seems like Warner Media is indeed beginning to shut down the comic book side of DC. 1st we have the wacky distribution change which the owner of my lcs has said has been rocky at best, & now we have these huge editorial firings. DC has enough history to probably just go into the Trades only business & just concentrate on mildly reprinting 75 years of comic books into collections, or just milk the stable of characters only & jettison their print histories. How many of the folks enjoying Stargirl right now know anything about the JSA, in terms of comics. I really can see DC comics shutting down soon.

Yeah, their comic book stories largely have been terrible. New 52 was the beginning of the end, with the exception of Snyder’s Batman. Even bringing back the original Superman, an admission of what a mistake New 52 was, and Rebirth which was the final admission of this same mistake, couldn’t help them. Bendis’ Superman felt like the final nail in my DC Comics coffin. The movies have been horrible with the lone exception of Wonder Woman. Even Aquaman was terrible, IMHO though I know many disagree. All of DC has been terribly managed for years.

A shame. These characters, these people, and the history of the work deserve MUCH better than this

The only DC comic I pull monthly is The Flash. I've given up on Batman because it seems to me that they're beyond milking him & his mythos every month with all sorts of off-size & odd formats & stories. The JLA makes no sense anymore, etc... I did think what DC did with their cool teaming w/ Hanna Barbera a few years back was great, but a lot of nothing since. Thhey've been floundering .... I know it, other readers know it, & now the bell rings. I just hope Marvel is seeing this as a big-ole warning & they too knock off the nonsence. Enough with the crap enough with the short-sighted crossovers & revamps.(see Empyre).

wonder if any of the bigger name artists will jump to Marvel now? Sounds like there are a lot of books that are going to be cancelled.

Aquaman is getting the axe. Also Batgirl, Constantine, Batman and the Outsiders, Teen Titans, Suicide Squad, and Hawkman.

F*CK.

I'm sure they will focus on graphic novels now and even then, only for the money making titles like Batman. If they do that and they can sell well, then great. If not, then hey, we have a lot of comics from back in the day to read through. Those were better than what is offered now anyway.

They are not closing, i asked a trustable source.

There are other speculations as well though.

like;

DC will merge with Marvel which would be awesome in my opinion. That can give us a Secret Crisis or Infinity Crisis event film.

Disney will get DC and keep DC and Marvel separate.

Both means no R Rated DC films, which sucks for Black Adam film. :/

No one said they’re closing. But they have been stripped to bare bones, their comics line is being cut and DC Direct is closing.
