They do mention Kurt Busiek, Bill Willingham (who writes more often than he draws nowadays) and Mike Kaluta could do both.

I'm really looking forward to Mike Kaluta and Gene Ha's contributions in particular!

Are they gonna use some unused script that Dave wrote?

I love Gene.

I asked him if there was gonna be an Absolute Top Ten, but sadly not

Nope, I worked on odd sized paper and the interns in La Jolla often scanned the pages at the wrong resolution. I'd love to see it too, but it can't happen.

Pretty cool artwork. I never seen that piece before.

Seeing fan made or professional comic book artist drawings of the rocketeer makes me miss Dave Stevens even more. No-one comes close in the perfection dave stevens drew the rocketeer. Some of the artwork in the mini series was horrendous. Very disappointing in some of the artist they chose.

Wow, old thread but yeah, Dave was a huge creative talent and a lovely guy to chat to! I only met him once but I'm glad I had the chance to tell him how much I enjoyed The Rocketeer

As for the recent mini-series, I also thought it was uneven but there were some well done stories and artwork!

Speaking of which, here's my most recent acquisition, Ashley Wood's version of the Rocketeer which was published as a pin-up in the final issue of the recent mini-series:

Best,

Royd

pretty cool painting...who is the girl doing the splits?

I actually did a small charity fundraiser for Dave Stevens. I created some Challenge coins and donating all proceeds to the Hairy Cell Leukemia Foundation in honor of Dave Stevens

Ash did 2 painted pin-ups for Rocketeer #4 and this one featured Rocketeer and I'm assuming Betty astride the robot

Great idea with the coins to raise money for the Hairy Cell Leukemia Foundation in honor of Dave!
