JND has a serious issue with getting the likeness right which should be their priority from the beginning as a high-end company.
Hot Toys, Inart and Blitzway are ahead of them in this game. And I am a JND fan.
They really need new sculptors. P1 Bz wins this one again.

P1 Blitzway looks like the better piece to me as well.

I'm wondering if JND is more suited for statues not requiring actor likenesses. In my opinion, they have exceptional talent at making their statues look lifelike, but their overall likenesses are very weak.
If they were able to do their own interpretations from video games, manga, comics, and original art, I think they would find a greater stride.
I say this because certain companies are great at certain things. Prime 1 strengthened their weakness with actor likeness by partnering with Blitzway. They have strengths at other areas, but they were weak at doing likeness pieces on their own.
I don't think changing sculptors is necessary, but maybe they need to shift their direction to utilize the areas they're strong at.

I do think the Blitzway piece looks better, but this sculpt looks good to me from some angles and not good from others. I want to love this though because I want John Wick in 1/3, not 1/4.

I think in the highest end market there isn't much demand for own creations. I think people perfer statues just reproducing the movie/comic/artwork they know it from. I think even if the likeness isn't 100% there, this still sells better than free interpretations of characters.

The statue looks good from certain angles and not good from other angles. At this price the likeness should be better.

I think the biggest issue is the eyes placement. I don't think he should be looking up. Not in the poster

But, but……it has battle damage!
Oh well.
Prototype vs prototype. This probably doesn’t compare. Production piece vs production piece….. given recent releases, probably still the same result.
It’ll only have a chance if you’re adamant about getting the character in 1/3 scale, and/or you’re the usual JND hardcore fan.

JND's marketing department has done its duty diligently to hype up every single statue they have released with multiple teaser videos and high praises, etc.
Unfortunately, all those empty hypes make the statue far more disappointing when the likeness is simply not there. All those expensive silicone and rooted hair have gone to waste.
It is especially worse when their main competitor has done a much better job on the same character and is able to deliver it with a far more attractive price point.
It is really hard to believe that not a single person inside JND is able to point out to the sculptor responsible that the likeness is off and needs more work. It is simply not ready for prime time yet.
What is going on over there? This statue of John Wick with this level of likeness is just not worth $2299 despite the quality of the rest of the statue is good.
When the likeness is off, the deal is off.

The overwhelming response seems to be that this is a miss. I guess we'll see what happens during the pre order launch.
I don't begrudge anyone who sees Keanu in that sculpt, or simply wants to support JND....personally, I'm running out of f**ks to give JND, with nearly every release being somewhat of a lemon. Unfortunately, JND is becoming the embarrassing stoned uncle at the Christmas party - cracking jokes and one liners only he finds funny.
The big reveals and the self congratulations the JND team heap on themselves, while showcasing a wet fart, is beyond frustrating.
