The Trial Of Jean Grey ... Fin'

Well, Bendis ended his Trial Of Jean Grey story-line is this week's Guardians of the Galaxy. I, for one, really enjoyed it. One could argue that the ending was kind of a whole lot of nothing, but I'd disagree. I thought it was a nice, tight, cool little story that bounced back & forth between two pretty good magazines. What did you guys think?

I was digging it until the last part with jean specifically. It felt a bit like a deus ex machina to me.

It was okay but as I mentioned in another thread, they need to cut the ties with earth. They are a space group, they need to have big epic cosmic stories going on away from earth. I noted that Venom is joining the group next issue. One word: No.

I never really bought into the premise of the crossover. Why did Gladiator feel compelled to make this Jean answer for the Phoenix's crimes and not the regular Jean that was around from the '80s X-Factor series through Morrison's New X-Men?

Aside from that, I thought it was a fun storyline with some fantastic art.

It ended? I thought I bought all the issues but don't recall it ended. What number was the GoG issue? Sorry, too lazy to google it.

Dang, just checked the covers and I don't think I have GOG 13

I really like it. Bendis has been great on both of these books. My wife has even jumped on board for GotG, she has never been a team book reader, but this one got her.

I love the last panel with Jean. Is this anger for Scott leaving?

The big reason I would think is that Gladiator only became the Shiar emperor in 2009.

I think Bendis wrote it well. Afterall, this is young Jean, a very innocent & naïve Jean who, up until recently, had no idea what her future self did or was capable of doing. Her anger, angst, confusion & decision(s) all seemed to make sense for me. Up until the kids return in All New X-Men #1, Jean/Marvel Girl was just busy fighting her Silver-Age battles which were a heck of a lot more innocent than the slaughtering of worlds as Dark Phoenix.
