Jam Artist

Hi all - who do you recommend and who has time to do a layout on a DPS battle jam?

and, I'm happy to buy a digital scan of a layout if it has 18+ characters on it if there are some folks want to sell-- I will replace the characters with the ones I need but the layout will save loads of time

The Minor brothers could pull it off. They did a layout for an 8-character He-Man jam I started back in May:

For context, here's the He-Man jam in question, so you can see what they did.

Following this thread with interest. I have seen some really nice jams that make me want to do one. The problem is that most jams fall short due to not being planned enough up front. It only takes one character that is posed awkwardly to throw the whole ensemble of characters off.

I have also seen jams that are laid out well … but often TOO well. Many artists will put too much work into the layout which leaves less room for the individual artists to do their own thing. IMO, a good layout is just blocking out the figures very loosely without detail. I have seen “layouts” that have face/hair, detailed muscle, costume, etc. that could have been inked straight from the layout. In these cases I find the jam to be lacking in what you want in a good jam – variety of artistic style

Ale Garza was doing some good (although a bit more detailed) jam layouts.

I'd caution that jams with a lot of characters run a greater risk for someone to muck it up.

If I remember correct, I reached Sunny via PM here. You can also try Facebook though. It was more than a few years ago.
