the approach theyre taking (with this movie at least) is that its basically year one - hes full of rage and has not honed his skills yet. what youre seeing is a very raw bruce wayne / batman, pretty cool take imo. they dont want to do what nolan did but they cant ignore how grounding the character in reality was successful

Out of the 3 recent DC trailers this one has me the most excited. Keaton Batman in Flash is a close second.

I'm über picky about Batman. I find very few things that I like about it so far. The Batmobile is pretty cool. The suit is nice enough. The thing I'm looking forward to the most about this movie is the 1/3 statue that Prime 1 is making. Mainly because it doesn't look like Pattinson.

I think when a character has been done so many times I think you have to try different interpretation to stand out.

West, Keaton, Kilmer, Clooney, Bale, Affleck, and now Pattinson.

For me, this has a tone and mood that stands on its own and I'm curious how much of the detective and mystery aspect will come into play.

Wait ...so that goes against the comics then.

Year one for Batman is when he comes back from his 7 years (or 12 years depending on the story) journey where he goes off the grid and learns from different "masters". During his journey is when he learns how to fight from different martial arts masters. Learns how to be an escape artist, to understand the criminal mind, to develop investigative skills and such other skills ...even chemistry. In year one, Bruce is already well trained. Starting in year one is when Bruce starts to "perfect" his persona as Batman.

In year one and even year two ...Batman should already be a skilled fighter with acrobatic abilities. He should already have honed his body for strength and endurance. He should already be in peak physical form.

Actually if you go by Year One he makes many mistakes even after being trained, and is constantly berating himself for making them. Remember, the first time he goes out before he dons the Batman persona he gets his butt kicked by Selena and is shot by a cop and nearly dies getting back to Wayne Manor. Even after he becomes Batman he nearly gets his head taken off by two kids lifting a TV from an apartment and almost gets wrecked when one of them nearly falls to his death.

Batman isn't the perfected ninja like stealth and tactical master everyone loves until much later. Even During Long Halloween, which is set around Year Two, he isn't perfect by any means.

"basically year one"... this isnt a direct retelling of that comic story, its just heavily inspired by it

True. You're right ...he wasn't perfect.

But he also didn't purposely put himself in the line of fire with all the guns blasting at his chest either. I'm surprised the gunmen didn't shoot at his face. There's no armor there.

That's my point to the whole thing. The trailers show Batman as a blunt instrument ...just letting criminals shoot at his chest. They should've at least shown him as a sharper instrument ...granted a little rough at the edges ...but a little sharper than what they are showing in the trailers right now.

Yup, I hear ya. Not a retelling of the comic story. They ...the movie makers ...are again putting their own liberties into this thing.

And once again ...they have decided to show Batman as a brawler with no stealth and finesse. Just another Batman that's in criminal's faces and letting his armor deflect bullets for him. Another Batman heavily dependent on his gadgets.

To be honest ...they have gone to that well too many times. I'd rather see a Batman movie that shows his physical prowess, agility and strategical mind. A movie that shows Bruce actually trained his body and mind to be a badass non-powered superhero.

Totally guessing but I wouldn’t be surprised if we get to witness this him evolve into the hero you’re describing. I don’t mind what I’m seeing in these trailers at all but I would like to see the Batman you’re talking about eventually
