Limited chance for 2013 SDCC tickets

Well folks it appears that if you didnt go this year to SDCC you wont be going in the near future if at all.
Heres why
Due to the populartiy of the event Currently we do not have a location with adequate space to accommodate all those who line up; therefore Comic-Con 2013 preregistration will be conducted online only.

Comic-Con 2013 attendee badges will be available for purchase online through the EPIC registration website in August 2012. There will be no onsite preregistration at Comic-Con 2012 for Comic-Con 2013 badges. Only those that have purchased a Comic-Con 2012 4-day attendee or 1-day attendee badge will be eligible to participate in 2013 online preregistration.

That would rule out I guess 80-90% of all tickets availiable I guess

It suck's to a person that wants to come from overseas to visit the event like me next year:

The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.

I'm not sure how that works because I heard that a person who had a badge this year may be eligible to purchase up to 4 badges for next year's show as long as they have a member ID. So if I understand correctly, since I went this year I could buy a badge for myself as well as 3 other badges for my friends/people who would like to attend next year's show. That is assuming I receive the email to login to buy next year's badges.

So, wait. Because I didn't go this year, I will never get to go in the future?

I think this is just for pre registering. That means you could still stand in line with the tens of thousands of people and buy your badges on site. Just the way I interpreted it.

So, this is probably the stupidest question, but what exactly is pre-registering?

The only cons I've ever been too, I just go online and buy my ticket, the end.

I have no clue how SDCC tickets/registering/pre-registering works.

I have never gone to the SDCC however I would like to experience the event at least once in a life time and was looking forward to New Year's 2013 event with my wife and friends ... now this

I guess I will have to stick to the NYCC which has been very enjoyable with the exception of the 1st year of the show in 2008 but that is kinda expected.

50% of tix will go on sale to 2012 attendees only. The other 50% will go up for sale at a later date, first come first serve.
