Oooh, so even though I've never gone before, I will still get the normal chance to buy tickets?

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

I think what it means, is that all those who got tickets for this years show, are first in line to get tickets for next years. So if everyone who went last year decides to go again, and buy the same amount of tickets... means less chance for leftover tickets?

For at least the past few years, you could pre-register for the next SDCC by purchasing a ticket at the actual convention. This year, they removed that, making it so the people who already had tickets this year would have the first chance to get tickets next year.
It's really not changing the existing system much except it shifted it from in-person orders to online orders. Which is a positive change because having people wasting an entire day in line just to get tickets for next year was really dumb. SDCC already has huge line problems due to the events and so on.
So even if you weren't there this year, you will have a chance to go next year. It's an annoying system but the venue is so maxed out I can completely understand why they do it.

Thank you so much for explaining. I was really confused about the article, and it kind of seemed like I would be crap out of luck because I've never gone before.
