First of all this shouldn't be a Men Vs Women thing...it's a pure movie and business thing..your Movie Stunk and was technically not a Reboot but more and alternate universe version of Ghostbusters.
So having a true Sequel is not a Reboot with men...it's called Part 3.
If the Female Ghostbusters was any good there would have been a part 2 even with the Real part 3 coming out. It was planned for years, just could never be agreed upon.
Hollywood is a joke nowadays, there are only a few writers willing to make new movies...there should be a ban on all reboots...let's make original movies again. I mean how long before we get a E.T or Jaws Reboot...leave well enough alone. Very hard to make great movies better by doing a Reboot.

I don't think Spielberg has had a movie of his remade. Jurassic World is the closest one I can think of, but it acts as much as a sequel as a soft reboot.

The Female Ghostbusters, that was not a good movie IMO... It made $229 million worldwide on a $144 million budget... but when you add in all the expensive of advertising it, I doubt Sony made any money on this movie... or very little which ultimately means no squeal.
I think Leslie anger is more about her not getting a squeal to her movie... Also it's easier to pull the sexiest card then admit you made a bad movie.
Her Movie pretty much ignored the first two Ghostbusters movies so they're really not related IMO, her movie was more of a reboot then a true sequel to the original ones... So I personally don't see any issue with adding another sequel to the original movie... But if women start saying it's sexist and what not I doubt any of the original stars will want to do the sequel, I doubt it would be worth the headache...

I went to a general store. They wouldn't let me buy anything specifically.

Her rage rant was really funny and ridiculous at the same time.

honestly though it's fine if people liked it, it's more the "well clearly you a trump lovin' sexist!" if you didn't attitude that is what makes most people outright hate the movie.

The general rule is a film has to double its production budget to turn a profit. Some films may avoid this will ancillary revenue such as merchandise.
