Annuals Actually WORTH Reading!

Tetra's thread about Avengers Annual #10 got me thinking, as well as WKTF's comments about crappy annuals over the years. I agree there have been too few annuals that have actually been worth the read.

However, there have been a few gems:

Marvel Two-In-One Annual #2: Spidey, the Avengers, and the Thing take on Thanos
Avengers Annual #8: Doctor Spectrum's gem falls into someone else's hands and wreaks havoc on the Avengers.

Any other annuals you would recommend? I know the good ones are few and far between, but these two are my favorites...

Here's a few:

X-Men Annual #9 - ties into the Asgardian Wars, by Chris Claremont and Art Adams.

Spider-Man Annual #14 - Spidey and Dr. Strange vs. Dr Doom and Dormammu, by O'Neill and Miller.

Thor Annual #7 - begins the Eternals Saga, with the Celestials and all kinds of craziness, by Roy Thomas and Walt Simonson.

Action Comics Annual #1 - -Superman and Batman vs. vampires. By John Byrne and Art Adams.

And...

Not that this is a must-have, but one of my faves: GI Joe Yearbook #2. Front and back covers by Michael Golden, and an October Guard story by Hama and Golden. Golden... Golden, Golden, Golden!

VM, there's Avengers Annual #7 that's part 1 of the two part Avengers/Thing/Spider-Man/Warlock/Captain Marvel confrontation with Thanos. The MTIO Annual is the second part. This two part story is my single favorite Annuals story!

Also, Thor Annual #5, I believe, with the John Buscema rendered Asgardian vs. Greek Gods War is another one of my favorites of all time.

I always liked
- FF Annual 4 (return of the Original Human Torch)
- FF Annual 5 (Introducing Psycho-Man and guest stars galore!)
- FF Annual 6 (Enter the Negative Zone)
- Amazing Spider-man 1 (the Sinister Six)
- Marvel Two-In-One Annuals 1 & 2

I really enjoyed FANTASTIC FOUR ANNUAL #14 (1979).

Perez artwork, cameos galore, and the Salem's Seven, a great if underused team of villains.

I also enjoyed the Salem's Seven (though didnt they first appear in the monthly FF book?) I might have to track down this annual. They really have been underused. I thought they were cool too, maybe better than the Squadron Supreme!

The Salem Seven first appeared in FF vol I, no. 186.

I like the uniqueness of the individual members and they counter the FF powers well. Would make for a nice set of MBs but I doubt they have the popluarity to warrent it.

Oh gosh, how could I forget this one?

Secret Origins Annual #1: Origin of the Doom Patrol by Kupperberg & Byrne, and origin of Captain Comet by Roy Thomas and Ron Harris.

I really enjoyed X-men annuals 3 & 4. Perez artwork on 3, JRJ on 4.

Dreadstar Annual "The Price" is a worthy mention also.

WKTF: Those are my all time favorites too!
