Eternals. I liked it but didn’t love it. I pretty much followed along with the story although some bits weren’t exactly clear. I would watch a second one. 7/10

Eternals - 6/10. The Eternals’ abilities and roles throughout their time on planet Earth left me with more questions than satisfactory answers.
The Last Duel - 6/10. Love Matt Damon, but totally miscast in the film. I knew nothing of the film’s plot going in; it left me considerably underwhelmed. However, it does make a keen observation of social and cultural values of 14th Century Europe. Ridley Scott, per usual, has beautiful cinematography and direction.

Scream (2022)
I always need to rewatch a new Scream movie a few times before ultimately deciding where it'll land in my rankings, but my initial impression of the movie upon first viewing is that it was disappointing, maybe my expectations were impossibly high.
The new characters were not interesting, and the legacy characters were criminally underused, and I think they leaned way too hard on the nostalgia from the first movie, making many scenes and moments that were right from the original.
I think its very clear that Wes did not direct this one...it shows...and im unsure if he would be happy with this sequel or not, also the screenplay not being written by Kevin Williamson was also very noticeable, I think the writers tried to capture his wit but fell flat.
It seems they tried to compensate by making this movie overly gory, and IMO Scream was never about the gore so it felt kind of out of place to me. This movie really is missing Wes and Kevins touch unfortunately, it seems like a poor imitation of their work, like a store brand cola compared to coca-cola lol it was "good" but could have been so much better.
Where was the suspense and chase scenes and mystery that most of the other movies had? I remember how suspenseful the scene was in Scream 2 where Sidney and her friend had to climb over the possibly knocked out Ghostface in the police car, it was nail biting, there was nothing like that in this new movie, and they didnt do a good job fleshing out the mystery of who is behind the mask like in previous movies, and again no real chase scenes, those are always one of the best parts in Scream movies, in this one the killings were all very abrupt with no real buildup, scares or suspense...
Another thing I was confused about was the motive for the killings, in the other movies they made it clear why the killings were happening, in this movie I had no idea why...
my rankings as of now:
Scream - 10/10
Scream 2 - 9.5/10
Scream 3 - 8/10
Scream 4 - 7/10
Scream 5 - 6/10
a lot of people hate on Scream 3 but I thought it was a lot better than 4 and 5, so I guess based on my rankings each new movie is worse than the one before it

Eternals - 5/10 - The biggest issue I had is the large cast made for a lot of partially fulfilled characters and story lines. I didn't connect with any one, instead feeling spread out and struggling to care about any of them that much. I think it had some neat ideas, but shows why doing these team up films is so hard.

Beanie Mania (HBO Max) - fun, quick documentary about Beanie Babies. Having lived through it back then, it brought back good memories. My aunt and mother in law would have me track down some of these for them. 7.5/10

The Nun (2018)
5/10
Features a few jump-scares. Could use more Nun. Some ok SFX from time to time. The Romanian setting worked well. All in all underwhelming stuff. I am surprised it spawned a statue, figure etc.
