Is SDCC worth going to for the art / commissions?

I got my dream piece from Alvin Lee at SDCC 2014. Like Bishop said, it is a great place for artists that don't typically do a "con run" through the season. It's a blood bath trying to get on some of these lists, but so long as you have preview night tickets and storm the booth of whatever artists you want to see, you should have some luck. Easier said than done though.

great perspective all. sounds like a con worth keeping on my radar but not one that I will actively pursue. perhaps if I somehow get some free tickets

I've been going for 9 years in a row android year was the most challenging. It's best to contact the artist before the show to set something up. San Diego is just too crowded and many of these artist make their money selling prints, not sketches.

But SDCC is for the experience, the vendor booths, the many discussions and premiers. If you are a comic/sci-fi/fantasy geek there is NOTHING like SDCC. It's a blast.

Having been to SDCC for the past 12 years and, now, finishing my time here today, I'll echo my friend Keith's comments.
