Any news on this statue? It has been about 6 months since the original WIP statue was shown.

Sorry about the delay on this. After comic con, the sculpt went under major surgery for revisions. I recently relocated from NJ to Idaho to work full time with ARH studios and we will get this project back on track soon. After spending 10 years working for McFarlane toys, my new direction as a sculptor is to bring all ARH statues to a entirely new level of quality. The Barbarian is part of that commitment. It will happen.

Great to hear. Macfarlane had several awesome sculptors. Even saw a live mold making process several comic cons ago. What happened to McFarlane?

Great to hear that Frazetta's Barbarian will get back on track...no doubt the sculpts are in great hands under your skills and watch Ehrin.

Basically McFarlane's decline boils down to Todd's lack of insight with internet sales. When McFarlane was at their peak (with Movie Maniacs and Tortured Souls etc) they made a lot of sales through specialty stores like Suncoast and Spencer's. When internet sales started booming, a lot of fans stopped going to these stores and instead started buying through the web. So those stores started closing and Todd didn't adapt. Instead of going after internet sales, he started playing ball with bigger chain stores like Walmart and Target. Because these stores place such specific demands on clients McFarlane began to compromise quality to hit the price points that were demanded of them. Smaller figures, less detail, fewer paint hits etc. McFarlane also fell behind NECA because they never diversified. NECA got in to the chotchkie market and this has helped them tremendously. So if they have a toy line that falls flat it doesn't kill them. Todd tends to put all his eggs in one basket. It worked well with Spawn but when the toy company had to weather various storms, it didn't go so well.
