Bullies at school are a whole new breed; back in the day, you either weren't bullied or you slugged it out with the bully and went your separate ways...
.. now, even in Junior Highs (or elementary schools), kids never know if the guy they "agreed to fight" is going to pull a knife or a gun on them. Kids are too willing to kill each other more so now than when we were their age.
Fistfights in school used to build character; now they can get you killed.

I remember being stuck in my teens and early 20's and not knowing what to do about being gay. I wish I could have just told this kid life can get better. 18! That's way too young.
This makes me even sadder as there have been a few other reports of younger kids killing themselves due to bullies at school.
