I tend to agree with Odin here - too many unforseen variables that could set a dog off... and too many owners don't notice the warning signs until it's too late.

It's not the puppies fault!

Don't forget it was man that breed it for fighting not the other way round. Where they are letting themselves down is not muzzling the dogs in public. It removes the risk of attack and biting.

Of course there are people who act like they are gangsters with their dogs but that is a different topic.
I agree Bulls - but I agree with what Odin said too...

The problem I have with him shooting the dog is this...It looks like he is in total control of the animal when he is on top of it.. he could have just used a "Cable tie" (police in NY carry them for mutiple arrests as they are issued one set of cuffs) or something else and Muzzle the dog.

The sad thing is some just take it to the extreme when they have power over people. And to me this seems to be another case.

Oh agreed. Why put the dog in a situation where they are unfamiliar and maybe come agitated. But I will repeat that you are being unfair to the dog if its a restricted breed not having it muzzled. In this country the dog could be taken away if its not muzzled.

Pit bulls should all be euthanized.

Thats a pretty strong statement. I tend not to debate with that kind of thinking.

I don't care if you don't debate me. Like that makes you morally superior to me somehow? You won't stoop to my level huh? Frankly I find a lot of people's opinions worthless and from time to time I think your opinions are worthless.
You don't like my opinion fine. But don't rebuke me in a post and then say you "don't debate" that type of thinking like your above reproach. Be a man.

biggest problem i have with this article is the owner bringing his dog into a festival environment. no matter how chill your dog is, theres too many things in a crowd to set off the dog.

i dont know what the cop was thinking by shooting the dog in front of the crowd but i wasnt in his shoes at the time. i've had dogs attempt to attack me while on duty but i was able to keep them away by sticking my baton in there face without having to physically touch the dog. but like i said im not sure what his mindset was at the time.
