That's good to know, even when they state :

"Durability: ChromeFX™ is as durable as OEM Automotive Finishes. "

show chrome is an industry term that means no imperfections on the piece what so ever + 5 times the thickness. I had it done by a plating shop in SD. I'll look to see if they have a web site.

what happens, does the paint rub on the hands?? If you dont add the coat does the paint stay on when handling every once and a while?

Danno ... does Alclad make a Gold Chrome type color that you can acheive this same effect with?

I have another "little project" for you once it's finished.

Hey Jesse,

They do make a gold color, but unfortunately...it's not as bright and shiney and the chrome. Rather the finish on it is rather flat....looks more like unpolished brass or something.

BUT! If Franky needs some shine....you could still use Alclad as the base and build up high gloss transparents over it (red, orange, and yellow).

i have nothing to add on this about paints but just that damn danno! i love your paint works! i try not to be a fanboy about things but you make it difficult not to be that way. dizneyguy is another person which i heavily enjoy seeing his touches. you guys make the paint just as important the sculpting.

I was curious what you mean by "not very durable"? I'm not a painter, but I am considering the use of this paint on a job I plan to commission out. I'm very careful with statues, so are we talking about the chrome wearing off just from being packed in stirofoam for shipping? Or are we talking about wear if the statue is handled more than a few times?

I'm curious because the statue will ideally only be handled once by me once after I receive it. However, I'm wondering if it will start to flake by itself. I remember one of the Transmetal Beast Wars toys I purchased years ago. It was never handled (just on display straight out of the box), but the chrome paint started curling and falling off by itself after just a year.

Thanks for any help or advice!
