Confronting the Hulk in a physical way is foolish except for the most powerful cosmic beings. The easiest way is to drain him of the Gamma Radiation like what the Silver Surfer did. I'm sure a high end telepath like Xavier could shut the Hulks mind down if they really wanted to. Any other way will result in a protracted fight in Hulks favor.

Superman would tear up half the planet trying to stop the Hulk. The idea is to find a simple way of stopping him and unless Superman can manipulate energy on a molecular level he will fail.

The Hulk's mind is different from most. He's been able to see astral forms when almost no one else can and Professor X wasn't able to telepathicly subdue him during WWH.
