The new trailer looks great. Much better than the teaser trailer. I am looking forward to seeing the film in just a few short months.
I really liked the first film a lot but not so much on the second one. I couldn't get passed how they tried to shoe horn The Wrath of Khan narrative into the film with the new cast and failed miserably at it imo.

International poster has been unveiled.
The rainbow color palette reminds me of Force Awakens, except with the uninspiring pshop arrangement.

It's a bit of an odd change, because Sulu was certainly straight in the show and movies. He had a crush on Ilia in the Motion Picture and has a daughter for example.
Now they have a straight actor playing Sulu and suddenly make him gay, why?

Does it really matter what came before this? It's a new Star Trek so how the character was portrayed before this new iteration really isn't relevant. In today's market diversity in ethnicity and sexual orientation are just more commonplace. As long as the character is well written it shouldn't really matter IMO.

The movie is still going to suck just like the previous two regardless of a gay Sulu. The third time will be the charm and hopefully it will be rebooted again.

Here is the full article I think other sites are picking up on:

George Takei asked them to make a new character because Sulu is heterosexual. But I guess technically it doesn't matter since this is a new timeline. Sulu is gay, Khan is white, Spock is a superhero, etc.

The first one was pretty good... If this is better than "Into Darkness" I'll be happy. I couldn't care less about the sexuality of the crew (as long as it isn't cringey or forced) I'm just hoping for an entertaining movie.

I've enjoyed both of the first ones. I'd rather they have introduced a new character than impact an existing character.
