Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

BLACK CAT 'ART NOUVEAU' PORTRAIT
OIL PAINTING ON CANVAS, 40X60cm/15,75"x23,62".

The first canvas of the pair is unveiled and already sold!
I had already explored this universe that I (like so many others) love so much with Emma Frost, Jean Grey (2 times) and Wonder Woman.
I love painting Black Cat, it's a character that I 'hold on' well and that I never tire of painting. So I had to apply this Art Nouveau treatment to her, trying to tell a story.
I was obviously inspired by the world of Mucha, some of his decorative elements, his way of defining textiles, hair. But I was also inspired by other contemporary universes of the Czech artist living in Paris: cabarets and their singers, and courtesans.
So I made this Felicia from another era into a cabaret artist, a masked burglar ?- la Arsène Lupin once the night had started well, a powerful and strong woman.

It was a really difficult canvas to paint, endless detail, layers and layers of paint adding on top of each other, I was so happy and relieved to see the end of it.
And then I made it an imperative not to start on a canvas that was too large as usual and to stay on a reasonable format, which forced me to be as precise as possible despite the grain of the canvas.
And glad to know that she will soon be decorating an interior somewhere.
She is not already gone, we miss her already!

MYSTIQUE 'ART NOUVEAU' PORTRAIT
OIL PAINTING ON CANVAS, 40X60cm/15,75"x23,62".

So here's the end of the second painting on which I was working simultaneously with Black Cat.
Still inspired by the decorative effects, haughty pose, and enhanced femininity dear to Alfons Mucha, I mainly started with the posing and dress of a fashion photo (published in Vogue, I think, I don't remember).
This version of Mystique has therefore become a gothic witch, proud, poisonous, dark at will. Both attractive and dangerous.
Like Black Cat, a strong woman, a leader.
