The Amityville Horror (2005)
5/10
'Houses don't kill people.. people kill people..'
Stars Ryan Reynolds of all people, and he is decent enough.
I could picture Jack Nicholson playing the same part also.
I picked this up for the DVD for the equivalent of one US dollar.
It is the 2005 version, opposed to the 1979 original, which i have not watched.
For the majority of the time, The Amityville Horror amounts to jump scares.
The first roof scene worked well, resulting in a feeling of edge of your seat levels anxiousness.
As the evil eats away at Reynolds, his eye's look blood-shot, achieved using contact lenses.
For some reason, towards the closing scenes, they forgot to use the blood-shot contact's?
One of main issues with The Amityville Horror suffers from, which applies to many horror movies,
it feels too polished. I always use the original 1974 The Texas Chain Saw Massacre as an example of how horror should be done.
Horror needs to take the viewer to a place they don't want to be, a place they want to exit.
