The point isnt that they were both in WWII, the point is, one of these characters could throw a tank into the pacific, and other could die from a bullet wound. Thats the difference. Big deal Superman fought in WWII - he shoulda ended the war sooner if he's SO GREAT. LOL

I suppose it goes down to the argument of what heroism is.
Is heroism doing what others can't...NO
Is it doing what others won't...YES
Both men are selfless, don't have a scale of helping people or see any problem as too small for them to help out.
I don't see a stitch between them
People can argue that Superman is invulnerable and that it's easy to be a hero when you're indestructable, but I call BS on that...IMO that makes it easier to be a villain.
One had military training, one didn't.
One has limitless powers almost, one doesn't.
Apples and oranges comparison IMO.

So they are very much alike, since apples and oranges can be comparable.

Would've said "Batman vs. Captain America", because they're both roughly "powerless".. but Batman doesn't embody heroism so much as he does vigilantism.
Cap wouldn't make a file of all of his teammates weaknesses, nor would he keep a pair of Sif's panties (Thor's weakness) in a vault in his Cap Cave.
Batman doesn't care if other heroes hate/distrust him.. Cap can take on the US government (like in Civil War) and heroes who would otherwise NEVER think to fight amongst themselves would blindly join his ranks, merely because.. if Captain America says "this is what needs to happen/right thing to do", then they'll help him out.
At the end of Civil War, when Cap realized the horror of what he had helped bring about.. he surrendered to the authorities, even though his team was mopping the floor against Iron Man's group of heroes.
Not really a "spoiler".. this happened almost five years ago.

I gotta say, though.. if no other heroes were around, and there was a villain made of Kryptonite that Kal-El KNEW could kill him, I don't think that would keep Supes from fighting him, nonetheless.. even at the risk of his own life. His one weakness has never stopped him from doing the right thing.

the whole "but he can die" argument is just as much crap as is the "but he has no powers" if these were real guys then sure it might matter, but since Cap is just as unlikely to be killed as Supes is on any given day makes the point invalid, both men will selflessly live to protect somebody and are just as willing to give up their lives to do the same, considering how much DC (and lets be honest superman) hate there is around here i knew this thread would be a landslide, but that doesn't mean i can't try to reason with you guys

I don't hate Superman; that wasn't the intent of this thread at all.
I see your point, though.. but believe me, Supes would get more support here than on "another site" we're familiar with.

Captain America is far more a hero. (given the two options)
Cap selflessly throws himself into battle knowing he could die.
Superman goes into battle knowing he can't, or most likely won't die.
Heroes make sacrifices. Superman sacrifices nothing. He's just a Godlike entity that uses is powers to help instead of hurt.

i didn't mean you, but there is a lot of anti-DCism in this forum, so pretty much any time it's a DC Vs Marvel thing DC gets thrashed
