If they had some beer,porn and some good jobs...they'd spend less time dreaming up ways to kill people, and more time being productive members of the human race.

There is truth to it.
Repressiveness and totalitarian theocracy are not how humans are supposed to live. So they want to escape, they path provided is "martyrdom" to paradise of course with a suicide bomb.
The 911 hijackers were doing all kinds of naughty stuff before they did what they did. Because all would be forgiven later. But they wanted so badly to do those things.

I heard an interview many months ago with a former(now reformed) terrorist in which he spoke of exactly what you guys are now discussing. In order to get these lemmings to blow themselves up, they are first denied any physical pleasures on earth, and then promised all the pleasures of the flesh in the afterlife.
This, according to the former terrorist, was instilled from a very young age, just like Hitler Youth. That explains why it is so difficult for any of these people to think differently than what they were taught, and why they will not hesitate to blow themselves up.
They have nothing to lose, but the frustration of decades of self-denial.
